4) Successfully complete the BLS Instructor Essentials Course.
The course consists of 2 parts: a) an online portion and b) a classroom/hands-on session.

- The candidate must take the classroom/hands-on session and score an 84% or higher on the final written test.
5) Successfully be monitored teaching within 6 months of completing the hands-on session of the BLS Instructor Essentials Course. If necessary, you might need to be monitored more than once, to ensure that you are confident and feel completely comfortable teaching ALL BLS/CPR courses offered by the AHA.
Monitoring options will be discussed during the classroom portion of the Instructor course.
6) All new AHA Instructors must register and be confirmed on the AHA Instructor Network to receive their AHA Instructor ID #, which must be used to issue course completion cards.
